~Here’s your essential checklist

Dry hire venues like The Amadeus give you the chance to create an event that’s truly your own, with plenty of flexibility and creative freedom. While it does mean there are a few more details to plan, this simply gives you the opportunity to shape every element to fit your vision.

1. Furniture
At The Amadeus, we provide a limited stock of in-house furniture that you’re welcome to use for your event. Because the space is so versatile and caters to a wide variety of celebrations, many clients choose to bring in additional pieces to suit their own style and layout. To make this simple, we work closely with several trusted furniture hire companies who offer excellent service and a wide range of options. Two of our go-to recommendations are Charlies Hire, known for their reliable delivery and event-ready essentials, and Ya Hire, a local favourite with a fantastic selection of furniture and décor to elevate any occasion.

2. Catering
As a dry hire venue, you’re free to choose your own caterer, allowing you to tailor the menu to your tastes and traditions. However we have a strong list of trusted caterers, many of whom have been working with us for over 20 years. They can all work with you to provide a menu that suits your taste, whether fine dining, street food, or a family-style feast.

If however you have a favourite caterer that you want to use, or would have a specific requirement we are happy to work with any caterer to make your event what you want it to be.

3. Lighting
Our venue has atmospheric architectural features that really shine with the right lighting. Consider hiring uplighting, festoon lighting, or pin-spot lighting to highlight key areas like the altar or the dining space. If you’re unsure where to start, we’re happy to connect you with lighting professionals who know our space well. Our trusted lighting supplier, Red Cat Lighting, has worked with us for over 20 years.

They have been able to take the lighting to another level and create any atmosphere you desire.

4. AV System
Planning speeches, live music, or a dancefloor? You’ll want to make sure your sound and AV needs are covered. Whether it’s microphones for vows and toasts, speakers for background music, or a full DJ setup, we have the basics available in-house. However, every event is different, so it’s always a good idea to check in with your DJ, band, or musicians about their specific requirements, and then cross-reference with us to ensure everything is in place for a seamless experience.

5. Signage

With several versatile spaces throughout our building, thoughtful signage can make a big difference in helping guests feel comfortable and at ease. From welcome boards and table plans to restroom signs, clear directions ensure everything flows smoothly as your event moves from the lower hall to the upper hall. Signage is also a lovely way to reflect your personal style and add to the overall atmosphere.

To support you, we provide an easel at the front of the building that can be used to display a welcome sign or key information for your guests.

6. Decor & Styling

Dry hire means a blank canvas but endless potential. From florals to backdrops, draping to candles, this is where your vision comes to life. It’s important that whether you’re going DIY or hiring a stylist, make a plan early for how your decor will come together during setup (and pack down afterward!).

Have a think:

  • What are our priority areas for styling? (e.g. altar/ceremony spot, dining tables, entrance, stage, dancefloor)
  • Are we bringing in external hire items like linens, vases, furniture, or floral installations?
  • Will you have flowers on the tables and around the venue?
  • What are the access times for setup and removal?
  • Are we planning any DIY elements (e.g. table settings, name cards, favours)?

7. Logistics & Timings
It’s helpful to map out the timeline of your event in advance, including when suppliers will need access for setup and breakdown. At The Amadeus, we’ll guide you through this process and work alongside your suppliers and planner or on-the-day contact to ensure everything runs seamlessly. For couples who would like extra support, we also have a list of trusted wedding planners we’re happy to recommend.

Need a hand? While dry hire offers flexibility, you’re never alone. At The Amadeus, we have a list of trusted suppliers who know our venue inside and out  from lighting and sound to catering and planning.
